Services

Persons age 60 or older, living in Preble County, may take advantage of the in-home and community based services offered through the Preble County Council on Aging. We will try to answer your questions, or get you the help you need. Preble County Senior Center activities and events are planned for persons age 50 and older.

Transportation - The Transportation Service emerges as the most needed service by citizens of the county in survey after survey. It is certainly needed by the elderly, especially by those who need to get to medical appointments and treatment centers inside and outside the county. We transport persons living throughout the county to a destination within a fifty-mile radius of Eaton. For more information, contact Terrie Gardner, Transportation Manager at 937.456.4947

Homemaker - The Preble County Council on Aging contracts with local agencies to provide our Homemaker Service. The Homemaker Service is for those individuals who are more frail than others and have acute or chronic conditions that prevent them from doing all that needs to be done in their home. This service is prioritized to ensure that those most in need receive the service.  For more information, contact Barbara Felton, Homemaker Manager at 937.456.4947.

Information & Referral - We are available to assist you when you are having problems, concerns, or questions relating to financial matters, including: Medicare Part A, Part B, and Part D, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, and Medicare Savings Programs. We can also help with information on federal or state assistance programs, utility consumer programs, caregiver support, affordable housing, Social Security and more. There is never a charge for this service. Call for a Senior Center appointment. In-home appointments are also available. For more information, contact Beverly Shindeldecker, Information & Referral Specialist at 937.456.4947..

Senior Center - Many activities are available at the Preble County Senior Center. The Fitness Room is open daily, or you can join the Open Fitness Hour at 9:00 am weekdays, which includes Wii games. We have a multi-purpose room with jigsaw puzzles & board games.  We have the Alice McMann Library, a pool table, computers and a gift shop.  Flyers are available on all trips.
